When asked what to expect before a Reiki session, I usually reply :
« Best case scenario, you will feel intensely relaxed.
Worst case scenario, you will feel intensely relaxed ».
Reiki has been around for thousands of years. Its current form was developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist called Mikao Usui, who reportedly taught 2,000 people the Reiki method during his lifetime. The practice spread to the U.S. through Hawaii in the 1940s, and then to Europe in the 1980s.
The word “Reiki” 霊気 comes from the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy). Reiki is a type of energy healing.
Reiki does not claim it can heal illnesses.
In case of serious illnesses, it is usually used in addition to a conventional medical treatment.
However, Reiki can do a whole lot, like :
removing energy blocks
helping your nervous system balance itself
reducing pain and anxiety
improving your sleep & digestion
giving you more clarity, better self-esteem
and enhancing your general well-being…
Reiki experts point out that, while this energy is not measurable by modern scientific techniques, it can be felt by those who tune into it.
The only prerequisite is to enter a Reiki session with an open mind.
